Job Summary

 

The role of Golf Course Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of every aspect of the golf course, including tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, cart paths and the rough, as well as supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring the course remains free of pest infestations or disease outbreaks.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Manages turf maintenance
  • Completes frequent disease scouting
  • Completes frequent irrigation monitoring
  • Help promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance and communications
  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with recommendations with personnel matters such as wages, reviews, warnings, and terminations
  • Oversees the cleanliness of the golf course and club grounds
  • Helps operate this department within all company, county, state and federal regulations and guidelines
  • Monitor and maintain irrigation systems
  • Help schedule and supervise the daily operations of the maintenance crew
  • Apply the proper application of pesticides and fertilizers
  • All other duties as assigned
 

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in turf management preferred
  • At least five years’ experience in turf care preferred
  • Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs
  • Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) certification

  • Knowledge of pesticide use
  • Ability to lead a team efficiently and effectively

Physical Demands

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to perform grounds work
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling materials, tools, and equipment up to 50lbs
  • Ability to operate equipment, including but not limited to mowers, utility vehicles, blowers, trimmers and other grounds machinery
