Job Overview 

Oak Mountain Golf Club is seeking a driven, detail-oriented, and hands-on Golf Course Superintendent to lead all aspects of golf course maintenance and grounds operations. This is a key leadership position within the club and an important role in shaping the daily member experience and the long-term condition of the property.

The Superintendent will be responsible for maintaining exceptional playing conditions while building a culture of accountability, urgency, professionalism, and pride within the maintenance operation. This individual must be able to lead a team, communicate effectively with club leadership, manage budgets and agronomic programs, and execute at a high level during both daily operations and major club events.

We are looking for a Superintendent who takes ownership of the golf course, understands the importance of championship-level conditioning, and is excited to help elevate the club.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all golf course and grounds maintenance operations, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, practice areas, landscaping, and clubhouse grounds.
• Develop and execute agronomic programs that deliver excellent year-round playing conditions, with particular emphasis on greens performance and consistency.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and manage the maintenance team while establishing clear expectations for performance, efficiency, and professionalism.
• Create and maintain a culture of accountability, attention to detail, and pride in presentation.
• Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the golf course maintenance department, including labor, equipment, chemicals, fertilizer, irrigation, and capital needs.
• Monitor turf health, soil conditions, moisture levels, and weather patterns to make proactive agronomic decisions.
• Oversee irrigation system management, water usage, pump station performance, and all related maintenance.
• Maintain and execute equipment maintenance schedules in coordination with the equipment technician or mechanic.
• Communicate regularly with club leadership regarding course conditions, priorities, project timelines, and operational needs.
• Prepare the golf course for member events, outside tournaments, and high-profile club functions, ensuring the course is presented at a high standard.
• Identify and execute short-term and long-term improvement opportunities for the golf course and surrounding grounds.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to chemical handling, water management, safety, and environmental stewardship.
• Promote a safe working environment and enforce all safety procedures for the maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent at a private, semi-private, or high-volume daily fee facility.
• Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, agronomy, irrigation systems, chemical and fertilizer programs, and golf course conditioning standards and specifically.
• Strong knowledge of practices to maintain Tif Eagle greens at a championship level.
• Proven leadership ability with experience managing, motivating, and holding a team accountable.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize daily operations while planning ahead for seasonal needs and major events.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with club ownership, management, golf operations, and other departments.
• Experience managing budgets, labor planning, and purchasing.
• Georgia pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one promptly.
• Degree or certificate in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or a related field preferred.
• A strong work ethic, high standards, and a visible sense of ownership in the golf course.
