We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join our agronomy team and help maintain the high standards of our course.
Position Overview
The Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent to plan, direct, and execute all aspects of golf course maintenance. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who is passionate about turf management, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will play a critical part in daily operations, staff supervision, and long-term agronomic planning.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with planning and supervising daily maintenance operations, including mowing, irrigation, chemical/fertilizer applications, and cultural practices.
Lead and train grounds staff, ensuring quality performance, safety, and efficiency.
Monitor course conditions and identify agronomic needs, pest/disease concerns, and improvement opportunities.
Operate and maintain golf course equipment safely and effectively.
Assist with irrigation system programming, inspection, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Maintain proper records of applications, labor, and equipment usage.
Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with environmental, safety, and club standards.
Act as the Superintendent in their absence.
Qualifications
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management Preferred, Agronomy, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of golf course maintenance experience; leadership experience preferred.
Georgia Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices, irrigation systems, and golf course equipment.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and early mornings as required.
Strong work ethic and passion for delivering excellent playing conditions.
