We’re currently seeking a reliable and motivated Second Assistant Superintendent to join our agronomy team and help us continue to deliver excellence every day.

 

Position Summary:

The Second Assistant Superintendent will assist the Golf Course Superintendent and First Assistant in the daily maintenance and improvement of the golf course and grounds. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to advance in the turfgrass industry, with the chance to gain hands-on experience in crew leadership, agronomic planning, and high-level course conditioning.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily course setup, including mowing, bunker maintenance, and hole locations
  • Supervise and direct small crews during maintenance tasks and projects
  • Support chemical and fertilizer applications, including calibration, application, and record-keeping
  • Assist in irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Monitor turf conditions and assist in identifying disease, pest, and moisture issues
  • Ensure proper operation and care of equipment by crew members
  • Help implement aerification, overseeding, topdressing, and other agronomic practices
  • Promote a safe and efficient work environment; ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
  • Contribute to team training and mentorship of seasonal staff

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2- or 4-year degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–2 years of golf course maintenance experience; prior leadership or supervisory experience a plus
  • Georgia Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
  • Basic knowledge of irrigation systems, turf equipment, and agronomic principles
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
