Iron Horse Golf Club is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomic team. Designed by renowned golf architect Mike Riley, our 6,960-yard, par-72 championship course features Primo Zoysia Greens, mature tree-lined fairways, and rolling terrain. After a $1.3 million renovation in 2018, our course is in peak condition, providing an exceptional golf experience for members and guests.

Position Overview:

As the Assistant Superintendent, you will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to oversee daily maintenance operations, ensuring the course meets the highest standards of playability and aesthetics. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated turf professional looking to advance their career at a premier facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily planning, scheduling, and execution of agronomic programs.
  • Oversee the maintenance and health of Primo Zoysia Greens, fairways, and roughs.
  • Supervise and train the turf maintenance crew, fostering a productive and motivated team environment.
  • Assist with irrigation system management, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Implement and monitor fertilization and plant protection programs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best management practices.
  • Maintain detailed records of chemical applications, equipment use, and course conditions.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to continually improve course conditions and player experience.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of golf course maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass diseases, fertility programs, and irrigation systems.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pesticide Applicator’s License or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Passion for golf course management and continuous improvement.
