Second Assistant Superintendent

Capital City Club was chartered in 1883 and is one of the oldest private clubs in Atlanta.  Crabapple is a separate 18 hole golf facility located north of Atlanta in the Milton/Woodstock area.  The golf course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2002.  The golf course features A-1 greens and TifSport tees, fairways, and roughs with extensive Little Bluestem/Broomsedge areas throughout the course.  Crabapple has been fortunate to host the 2024 AJGA Rolex Girls JR Championship, 2021 ACC Men’s Championship, 2017 USGA Mid-Am, 2016 GSGA Centennial State AM (stroke play), 2013 NCAA Div. I Men’s Championship, 2012 AJGA Rolex TOC, 2005 AJGA Canon Cup, and the 2003 WGC American Express Championship.     

The 2^nd AGCS will report directly to the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent and Golf Course Superintendent.  Our goal is to prepare the 2^nd Assistant to move into an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent position by involving them in: crew management, crew scheduling, safety training, task training, equipment training, agronomic planning for all areas of the course, application of fertilizers, application of turf care products, calibration, irrigation scheduling and repair, administrative responsibilities, HR responsibilities, environmental/BMP responsibilities, project planning and execution, tournament preparation, and other aspects of our operation.

The compensation for the 2^nd AGCS position will depend on the candidates experience and qualifications but will be approximately $58,000 annually.  A generous and competitive benefit package is provided.

Candidates should be actively pursuing or have an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Turf Management or a related field.  Candidates should have prior experience or internships from other clubs.  A Georgia Pesticide Applicators license is preferred but may be obtained in the first six months of employment.  Club policies and other position details will be thoroughly covered in the interview process.
